Overview
A clock you design yourself.
Vintage Clock started as a screen saver and grew into a small design studio. Pick a
clock face, change its colors, give it a city, choose how the zodiac sky should look –
and the result appears in the screen saver on every display, with a second hand that
sweeps like a real watch.

Design
Every detail is yours.
The editor has five areas – dial, colors, time, location & weather and zodiac. Whatever
you change appears in the clock right away. Save it as a clock face with ⌘S, or keep
experimenting and make a new one with ⌘N.
Colors for day and night
Dial, numerals and marks, radium accents and hands – separately for light and dark appearance. With “Automatic” the clock follows your Mac, and a switch on the preview shows either variant.
Second hand your way
A smooth sweep at 60 frames per second, a ticking hand, or just the glowing tip of a long second hand.
Dial and type
Clock size, minute marks, radium hour marks, the date in flip-card style and a time-zone label – thin or bold.
Rename right in the title
Click the window title to rename the clock face. Duplicate, reorder and delete in the gallery – or press ⌫ to tidy up quickly.
Full screen desk clock
Switch Studio to full screen and it becomes an elegant desk clock. The pointer hides itself.
Use in Screen Saver
One click – or ⌘↩ – and the screen saver shows the selected face. The gallery marks which one is active.
Capitals
27 world capitals, each with its own face.
From Reykjavík to Wellington, every capital comes with its own color theme, time zone
and coordinates – so the local time, weather, sunrise and sunset are right from the
start. Add any other city: it is looked up automatically, and its coordinates travel
with the clock face.
A vintage clock that knows a little more than the time: the current zodiac sign, the
phase of the moon, when the sun rises and sets – and what the weather is doing in the
city of your clock face.
Twinkling constellations
The zodiac sign as an animated constellation – 90 background stars, each twinkling in its own rhythm, with a soft glow. Or as symbol, drawing or hand-drawn artwork.
Moon phase
Calculated precisely for the date – as a symbol or a photographic moon.
Sunrise & sunset
For the city of the clock face, shown above the center.
Weather & alerts
Current conditions and severe weather alerts powered by Apple Weather, in °C or °F.
Time zones done right
Each face shows its city's local time with the proper abbreviation – EAT, NPT, NZDT – or the UTC offset if you prefer.
Light or dark
Every capital face has a matching light and dark variant, so it fits a bright office and a dark room alike.
Screen Saver
Included – and it barely uses any energy.
The Vintage Clock screen saver is part of the app: click “Get the Screen Saver…”, then
Install, and choose Vintage Clock in System Settings. It was rebuilt from the ground up
for version 2 – with a fraction of the energy use and settings that open instantly.
Shared library
Clock faces from Studio appear in the screen saver automatically – created, changed, renamed or deleted. No exporting, no importing.
Energy-efficient
Only the hands move; the dial is drawn once. With energy saving the second hand ticks once per second and the stars rest – automatically on battery if you like.
Multiple displays
All displays, the main display, the other displays or a selection – and every display can show a city of its own.
Instant options
The settings window opens in about a tenth of a second, with all your clock faces as a gallery.
Performance at a glance
Turn on the performance info to see updates per second, CPU and memory on every display.
Carries on from 1.x
Settings and clock faces from Vintage Clock 1.x are taken over automatically.
Every clock face can be saved as a small .vintageclock file – to keep, to send to a
friend or to use on another Mac. The Finder shows the clock itself as the file icon.
A clock as the icon
Quick Look draws the clock face straight into the Finder icon – you see the design before you open it.
Press Space
A large preview of the clock – or a grid of all faces, if the file holds a whole collection.
Double-click to open
The face opens in Vintage Clock Studio and is available in the screen saver right away.
Privacy
Your clock stays on your Mac.
Vintage Clock has no account and no tracking. Settings and clock faces live on your Mac;
for weather and city search, only coordinates or a city name go to Apple – never to us.
